Rodney Price and family are headed to a vacation in Breckenridge, Colo., thanks to Wounded Warriors Family Ski Week Program.
Price, Gardner, suffered serious injuries during his combat tour in Iraq in 2006. He and his family, including wife Tracy and son Connor, will participate in the family weeklong retreat in April.
The Price family is one of 11 families selected from more than 100 applicants to attend the annual event. The program seeks to provide an opportunity for seriously wounded service members and their families to benefit from the recuperative powers of a week of family activities built around snow skiing. They’ll also have the chance to fly fish, ice skate and snow tube. In addition to the recreational fun, the Prices will also take part in sessions focused on reconnecting and communicating clearly designed specifically to address the emotional health of injured soldiers and their families.
The Ski Week Program is organized by a Breckenridge group of veterans and interested residents in partnership with the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center. The center has been using the latest in adaptive instruction and specialized equipment to teach disabled persons to snow ski for more than 35 years.
