Several area players recently signed letters of intent to participate in college athletics next year.
In football, five Blazers and one Bronco signed letters. From GEHS, Austin Goldsmith, a 6-0, 190-pound defensive back; Chase Lee, a 5-11, 150-pound kicker; and Jimmy Orwick, a 5-10, 255-pound defensive lineman, signed with Ft. Scott Community College.
Colton Pevehouse, a 6-3, 180-pound defensive back, signed with Highland Community College; and Mason Rodgers, a 6-7, 245-pound offensive lineman, signed with Butler Community College.
From Spring Hill, Jeff Lovetinsky, a 5-11, 175-pound quarterback, signed with Mid-America Nazarene University.
A handful of female athletes from Spring Hill also signed letters of intent last week.
Jami Hodge signed a letter to participate in basketball and track at Baker University and teammate Ericka Simpson will join her at Baker on the basketball court.
Ashley Schoenhofer signed to play volleyball at Southwestern Kansas College.
