The rumors about a QuikTrip coming to Gardner are true – kind of.
According to Amy Kynard, city planner, said the corporation had filed a site plan and a preliminary plat for a QuikTrip to be located just west of Walgreens on Main Street.
The plans are tentatively set to go before the Gardner Planning Commission for approval on Feb. 28.
Approval of site plans and preliminary plat approval do not guarantee that the convenience store will be built in Gardner.
“You never know with site plans,” Kynard said. “Someone might get something approved and then it might not get built. Site plans last up to two years so they’d have two years to get a building permit for it.”
Although city staff hasn’t discussed construction plans with the convenience store developers, Kynard said she believes they are pretty eager to get going “sooner rather than later.”
