Kevin David Pyle, 54, of Gardner, went home on Jan. 26, 2012 after a brave, hard fought battle with a long illness.
Kevin was born July 22, 1957 in Emporia, son of David and Lorita Pyle. He graduated in 1975 from Gardner High School, followed by service in the United States Army, in which he was stationed in Germany.
Upon his honorable discharge, he spent his career as an electrical lineman traveling throughout the country. Kevin was an electrical lineman/foreman for 15 years with Par Electric of Topeka. He previously worked for the City of Gardner and Southwestern Bell. Kevin was a member of IBEW #304, the Gardner American Legion, and was an avid KU fan. He also coached American Legion Baseball in Gardner.
His most cherished moments were spent with his family. He loved to cook and was an avid fisherman who had an unrivaled passion for Alaska. He never knew a stranger and his contagious smile will be sorely missed by all the lives he touched.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father David.
He is survived by his mother Lorita Pyle, of Gardner; sons Ryan Pyle and fiancé Cheri, of Olathe, Kan.; Kevin (Jay) Pyle, Jr. and Jamie of Olathe; brother Kirk Pyle and Paula, of Gardner; sister Kim and Jim Hoehn of Wellsvill, Kan.; beloved grandchildren Ainsley and Maddox and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation. Visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Jan. 30, 2012 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Reading Cemetery, Reading, Kan.
