Lois Maxine (Eastland) Jensen, 88 of Gardner, Kan., passed away Jan. 7, 2012 at Meadowbrook Rehab Hospital in Gardner.
Lois was born Sept. 3, 1923 in Morse, Kan. to Ralph Emerson and Edith Mae (Dunham) Eastland.
She was a 1941 graduate of Olathe High School and St. Mary’s Nursing School in 1944.
Lois married George J. Jensen on Feb. 18, 1948 in Olathe, Kan. They moved the family to Gardner in 1955. She trained and worked at Providence Hospital in Kansas City, Kan. and was a RN in the offices of Dr. Grayson and Dr. Leigh in Overland Park until 1983. She worked at Gardner Hospital until her retirement in 1986.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Worthwhile Quilt Group, the Morning Glory Grange and Family Life, the Gardner Card Pitch Club, the Olathe Trail Riders and the Docey Dandies. She was a Girl Scout Leader. Lois enjoyed time with her family and gardening. She will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George and sister Wilma Claar.
Lois is survived by children: George Ralph Jensen and wife Eva, Olathe, Kan., Dr. Roy Andrew Jensen and wife Linda, and Mary Jane Cunningham and husband Brent, all of Gardner; six grandchildren: Angela, Amy, Jennifer, Andrew, Derek and Brett; and two great grandchildren, Ian and Jon.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Jan. 11, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church, 138 E. Shawnee, Gardner, KS. Burial at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park, Kan. Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Jan. 10, 2012 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111.
