A father and daughter escaped a burning house in Edgerton during the early hours of Dec. 28.
According to Battalion Chief Kirk Keller of Johnson County Fire District No. 1 a man and his daughter were inside their home in the 300 block of East Martin St. when the fire broke out around 2 a.m.
The man was alerted to the fire when a smoke detector sounded.
He then woke his daughter and the two escaped through a bedroom window, as the main exists were blocked by fire.
Neither the man nor his daughter was injured.
Firefighters were on the scene for about three hours.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
