Using a strong defense and rebounding, the Gardner Edgerton fifth and sixth grade girls competitive basketball team recently won first place in the K.C. Premiere league.
Gardner Edgerton controlled the tempo from the start and recorded 27 rebounds and collected 18 steals.
“I was real proud of the way we played as a team,” said coach Joe Bilhimer. “We played good team defense and we limited our opponent to just one shot per possession in the title game.”
The team gets back to practice for a winter league, Jan. 3.
Playing for the league champions were Taylor Carpenter, Kennedy Comstock, Gracie Knoblock, Maddy Linden, Tatum Glaser, Katie Miller, Hannah Trivitt, and Sydney Wetherington.
