Matt Smith scored 15 points and Derek Bybee added 14 points leading the Spring Hill boys basketball team to a big 74-41 non-conference win at home versus Atchison on Dec. 20.
Spring Hill jumped to a 17-10 first-quarter lead and went up 47-16 by halftime. The Broncos added 27 second-half points to seal the win.
“We shot the ball well,” said coach Rick O’Neil. “Despite not having Brady Donahue (due to illness) we put together a solid effort. A big 30-point second-quarter really did the job for us.”
Other Bronco scorers included Austin Miller, 10; Niles Kahn, eight; Sam Jesberg, seven; Cole Lillich, six; Lake Johnson, five; Robbie Sharemet, four; Kainon Clark, three; and Chris Bybee, two.
Spring Hill grabbed 32 rebounds led by Miller (eight). Smith and Sharemet collected five apiece.
Now 3-2, Spring Hill takes a break until Jan. 3 when they face Eudora.
