Michael Joseph De Grande, 80, of Gardner, passed away Dec. 9, 2011 at his home.
Mike was born August 27, 1931 in Lenexa, KS to Julius Joseph and Frances Rosalia (Kill) De Grande. He was a 1952 graduate of Gardner High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956.
Mike married Florence E. Smith on Sept. 7, 1955 at Treasure Island, Calif. They have lived in Gardner for 56 years where he was a farmer. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the American Legion. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Katherine E. De Grande, and brother John C. De Grande.
Mike is survived by his wife Florence of the home; son John J. De Grande and wife Shelley of Gardner; sister Mary Peterson of Olathe, Kan.; and grandsons Alex and Ben.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Dec. 12, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 555 W Main, Gardner, KS. Burial will follow at Gardner Cemetery. A Rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a Visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. before the service at the church. Arrangements: Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111.
