William “Bill” Ross Dyer, 78, of Spring Hill, passed away Nov. 11, 2011 at his home.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., Nov. 15, 2011 at Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 10 a.m. at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S Webster, Spring Hill, KS (913) 592-2244. Condolences may be sent to www.brucefuneral.com.
Bill was born Dec. 22, 1932 in North Zulch, Texas to George William and Pearl (Akin) Dyer. He grew up in Madisonville, Texas; moving to Spring Hill 16 years ago.
Bill married Bonnie Kay Secrest 36 years ago in Miami, Okla.
He was a retired United States Marine serving during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars as a Gunnery Sargent. Bill also worked for the Oklahoma Corp of Engineers in the maintenance department and was a welder for a tank service in Tulsa, Okla.
He liked horseback riding, motorcycling, fishing and water skiing. Bill spent many years square dancing in Oklahoma and enjoyed watching both grandchildren participate in various school activities.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Delois Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of the home; step-sons: Dale and wife Tracy Edwards, Stilwell and Mark and wife Verneda Edwards, Spring Hill; sisters Marie Dorman, Midway, Texas and Helen and husband Jimmy Ketchum, Madisonville, Texas; two grandchildren Jessica and Travis Edwards and numerous nieces and nephews.
