Spring Hill Elementary School has received a $10,000 grant from the National Football League and the Kansas City Chiefs for health and wellness.
The school is one of 34 in the country to receive the grand prize award, which is part of the NFL’s “Play 60 Super School Program,” which encourages 60 minutes of excercise per day to promote health and prevent obesity.
The grant money is intended to promote health and wellness.
The school plans to use part of the funding to purchase a rock climbing wall and possibly heart monitoring equipment.
“We are very excited about the opportunity this grant will provide us to further the health and wellness of our students,” Principal Michelle Toon said.
Representatives from the Kansas City Chiefs are expected to visit Spring Hill to present the award to the school.
