The Kansas Oldtime Fiddlers, Pickers & Singers, Inc. (KOFP&S) appointed Marilyn Rockel, Gardner, to chair the promotions committee. A long time KOFP&S member, Marilyn has worked in the entertainment industry for many decades and she looks forward to promoting the KOFP&S in many venues.  The committee will be comprised of a representative from each KOFP&S chapter.
The organization is a not-for-profit organization with many talented members and chapters throughout the state of Kansas.  Chapters are:  Arkansas City-Walnut Valley, De Soto, El Dorado White Eagle, Emporia-Flint Hills, Fort Scott Marmaton, Gardner-Santa Fe Trail, Howard Wild Creek, Hutchinson-Cow Creek, Iola, KAW Valley near Rossville, Lakin Western Plains, Leavenworth 1st City, Osawatomie, and Spring Hill.
There is a range of music from bluegrass, country western, classic rock n’ roll and gospel.  There are monthly chapter meetings with potluck suppers or light meals, and free music programs along with a dancing area for both the audience and participants.  The chapters work with the young musicians and vocalists.  After all, they are the future carriers of the “music of the decades” legacy.
Throughout the year, many chapter members entertain at county fairs, community events, parades, dances, family occasions, senior centers, schools, and commercial venues accompanied by chapter bands.
Musicians and audience participants are encouraged to join a chapter in their area.  The annual membership drive is in December each year; although membership is available throughout the year.
KOFP&S also publishes a monthly membership newsletter.
The KOFP&S chapters alternate hosting the State Convention each year.  The next State Convention will be hosted by the Walnut Valley Chapter April 28-29, 2012 in Winfield, Kan.
