Eugene M. Taylor, age 88 of Williamsburg, Kan., died Oct. 21, 2011 at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kan.
Eugene was born June 02, 1923 in Greenfield, Okla. the son of Joseph Taylor and Ruth D. (Vanlehn) Taylor. He graduated from Greenfield (Oklahoma) High School with the class of 1941.
He lived in Greenfield, Okla. until 1941 and after military service he moved with his construction work until moving to Gardner, Kan. in 1950 and to Williamsburg in 1987. Eugene served during World War II from June 9, 1943 until December 13, 1945 in the United States Navy, attaining the rank of Motor Machinist’s Mate, Third Class.
Eugene worked forty years in highway construction through Operating Engineers Local 101. He worked for Amos Construction, Oklahoma City, Okla.; C.F. Lytle, Souix City, Ia.; Guy James, Oklahoma City, Okla.; Wonder Lake, Denver, Colo.; Reno Construction and Apac Construction, Ashland, Ky.
On Nov. 5, 1942 Eugene was united in marriage with Celia “Pauline” Wosley at Kingfisher, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on February 25, 2003.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Celia “Pauline” Wosley; parents, Ruth D. (Wanlehn) Taylor and Joseph Taylor; sister, Cordia Hyle and brother, Onis Taylor.
He is survived by his son Rockey Carlton Eugene Taylor and his wife, Shirley, Wellsville, Kan.; grandson Aaron Presley Eugene Taylor and his wife Terri, Ottawa, Kan.; great grandchildren Jude Taylor, Olivia Taylor, Destiny Taylor, Kay Taylor, Joey Taylor all of Ottawa, Kan.; sister Vita Arndt and her husband, Dwayne, Lawton, Okla. and sister Rita Johns, Hot Springs, Ark.
Funeral services will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary 2 p.m., Oct. 27, 2011. Mr. Taylor will lie in state at Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9 a.m., Oct. 26, 2011 until the service hour. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Williamsburg, Kan.
