Gardner police have arrested a man who two days ago escaped from the Lansing Correctional Facility.

Ronny Dale Peters was taken into custody the morning of Sept. 16 and was turned over to U.S. marshals following an overnight manhunt that involved several law enforcement agencies.

He was arrested at a residence in the Conestoga mobile home park.

According to Ilena Spalding, public information officer for the Gardner Police Department, Conestoga residents reported seeing Peters in the park at about 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 15.

Peters, 33, escaped from Lansing Correctional Facility on Sept. 14.

Spalding said police arrived on the scene and approached the suspect who then fled on foot.

Police set up a perimeter around the neighborhood and conducted a street-to-street search for the suspect until 4 a.m.

Assisting in the search were canine units from the Lenexa and Shawnee police departments, a helicopter from the Kansas Highway Patrol and officers from the Spring Hill Police Department and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Peters, who was a minimum security inmate, has previous charges of aggravated battery, theft, domestic battery and burglary.
