The 2nd Annual Street Vault Aug. 13 was a big success according to event organizer Thane Nonamaker.
“We had a great turnout and super weather,” said Nonamaker. “Nearly 50 vaulters participated and we got entries from Oklahoma and Missouri. We had over a 50 per cent increase in participation.”
Approximately 30 pole vaulters participated in Nonamaker’s summer program. Events were held at William Jewell, Lawrence, Jr. Olympics in Wichita, Baldwin, and the Sunflower Games in Topeka. Competition concluded with the annual summer vault in Gardner.
Following the street vault, Nonamaker extended a special thanks to Gardner Price Chopper (water), Doug Lytle (runway), Jerry Stricker (lighting), USD 231 (use of the north elementary parking lot facility), and equipment from the GEHS track program.
