Alice “Maxine” Wright, 78, of Olathe, passed away Aug. 4, 2011 at Olathe Medical Center.
Maxine was born May 7, 1933 in Spring Hill, Kan. to Clifford Jim and Ruby Marie (Frazee) McDaniel. She grew up in Spring Hill and graduated from Wellsville High School.
She married Robert L. Wright Oct. 3, 1972 in Ottawa, Kan. They lived in Olathe, but wintered in Texas.
Maxine enjoyed crafts and was a very talented painter. She made ceramics, did woodworking, quilting and painted dolls. Family and friends will dearly miss Maxine. She was a special person that kept the family all together.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; two infant sons and siblings Denora Edler, Gertrude Watkins, Harley McDaniel, Loren McDaniel, Delores Jones, Cecil McDaniel and Imogene Brooks.
She is survived by her husband Bob, of the home; children: Cheryl Vogel, Paola, Kan., Roger Oxley, Omaha, Ark., Glenn Oxley and wife Vicki, Olathe, Kan., Marlon Oxley, Watertown, S.D., Beverly Oxley, Winterset, Iowa; step-children: Sandy Payne and husband Jay, Stilwell, Kan. and Bill Wright and wife Julie, Olathe; siblings: Joyce Silva, Dalton, Nev., J.C. McDaniel, Paola, Kan., Harold McDaniel, Homer, La., Marilyn Helt, Peculiar, Mo. and Carolyn Rood, Olathe, 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Aug. 8, 2011 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111. Burial followed at Antioch Cemetery, Spring Hill, KS. Visitation was held Aug. 7, 2011 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maxine Wright Memorial Fund. Condolences may be sent to
