Dawn Renee Rush
 Dawn Renee Rush, 58, of Spring Hill, KS, died July 30, 2011, at her home in Spring Hill.
Dawn was born April 22, 1953 in Patuxent River, Lexington Park, MD. She married Robert Leroy Rush, Jr. on March 9, 1990 in Olathe, KS. Dawn was co-owner and operator of Ci Dawn Farms. Previously she had worked for 20 years at JC Penny’s as an inbounder receiver. Dawn was the first female machinist at Rockwell International, Atchison, KS. She machined train castings, valves for the Alaskan pipeline and machined a cog for the first Space Shuttle Columbia. Earlier she was a police radio dispatcher in Falls City, NE and milked cows in her childhood. Dawn was involved in scroll saw wood working and 4-H. She became known as “The Goat Lady”. She milked as many as 20 goats selling milk to many. Dawn enjoyed the Dairy and Meat Goat projects, watching 4-Hers showing her goats she raised. Dawn was very knowledgeable on goat diseases, goat feeding and the breeds. Her goal was to be able to attend the Johnson County Fair Goat Show next week, however, that was not to be. Dawn was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She will be dearly missed by family, friends, and 4- Hers. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Walter Edward Bruhn and her Aunt Eldora Krause. Dawn is survived by her husband Robert of the home; her son Jamey Metz of Overland Park, KS; her daughter Shonda Lynn Dietz and husband Travis of Gardner, KS; lifelong friend Pat Byington, Olathe, KS; her business partner and friend of thirty years, Cion Hamilton, Spring Hill; and four grandchildren, Lyla Grace Dietz, Timothy John Dietz, Anna Elizabeth Dietz and Joseph John Dietz.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 555 W Main, Gardner, KS. Rosary will be at 7:00 pm Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS, 913-856-7111 with visitation following until 9:00 pm.
