Johanna “Jo” Mae Williams, 78, of Gardner, passed away July 25, 2011 at Kansas City Hospice House.
Johanna was born Feb. 21, 1933 in Chickasaw County, Iowa to Emil Peter and Viola M. Greene Rothler. She graduated from high school in Mason City, Iowa. She lived in Kensett, Iowa moving with her family to Middletown, N.J. and then to Gardner in 1972.
Jo was an account sales manager for Sprint for 15 years. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Olathe and the Gardner American Legion Auxilary. She helped collect food for the Multi Service Center. Jo enjoyed fishing at Gardner Lake, yardwork and growing flowers. She was a loyal Chiefs and Royals fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Sally Williams, brother Vincent Rothler and sister LaVonne Schmidt.
Jo is survived by sons David Williams and Shirley of Stevensville, Mont. and Casey Williams of Louisburg, Kan.; daughters Julie King of Topeka, Kan. and Lori Cordova and Jerry of Gardner; sister Sally Stricker and Bob of Mason City, Iowa; ten grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., July 29, 2011 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, (913) 856-7111. Visitation was held July 28, 2011, also at the funeral home.
