Vivian Maxine Carlton, 78, passed away July 22, 2011 at Good Samaritan Society in Olathe, Kan.
Vivian was born Nov. 11, 1932 in Boicourt, Kan. to Volney Preston and Hilja Sivia (Henrikson) Reynolds. She graduated high school and attended nurses training in Ft. Scott, Kan. She was a long-time Spring Hill resident.
She worked for Hedrick Title Co. and was an office assistant for Cookbook Publishers, retiring after working many years.
Vivian was an avid gardener. She enjoyed flea markets and garage sales, always adding to her collections.
Vivian loved to cook especially for her loved ones. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Vern D. Batley, Sr., Harold L. Sutcliffe, Sr., and Kirby Carlton; and grandson Mitchell Sutcliffe.
Vivian is survived by her sons Vern Batley and Sharon of Spring Hill, Don “Mike” Batley and Janet of Gardner, Kan., Bill Sutcliffe and Lisa of Spring Hill, and Hal Sutcliffe of Paola, Kan.; daughter Kathy Gander and Dwight of Blue Mound, Kan.; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; sister Eileen Reynolds of Clinton, Mo.; and brother Loren Reynolds and Rose Marie of LaCygne, Kan.
Graveside Services will be 10:30 a.m., July 26, 2011 at Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S Webster, Spring Hill, Kan. (913) 592-2244, before the graveside.
