Take Charge Challenge
July 13, 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Join the City of Gardner for a class at the new Home Energy Efficiency Demonstration & Learning Center (Take Charge Challenge HQ).
Come learn about the following topics:
•Tips on how to weather proof your home
• What a home energy audit is, the benefits of completing one and demonstrations
• How you can help Gardner become more efficient and win the Take Charge Challenge!
All attendees will receive a free weather proofing kit and CFL light bulbs.
Classes will be held Wednesday, June 29 at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Wednesday, July 13 at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Movie in the Park
July 15, 8:30 p.m.
Join Gardner Parks and Recreation for a free movie in the park.  Grab your chairs and blankets and head out to Cornerstone Park.  Get there early to save your spot.  Concession stand opens at 7:30 p.m. and the movie will start at 8:30 p.m.  The feature presentation is Yogi Bear.  This event is free to the public and is open to anyone.
10th Annual Danisco Prairie Punisher Duathlon and 5K
July 23, 7 a.m.
The 10th Annual Dansico Prairie Punisher Duathlon and 5K, consists of a 5K run, a 27.5K bike ride, followed by a 5K run.  A 5K run as well as a 5K walk will be held in conjunction with the dualathlon.  All 5K walk proceeds will support Gardner Gold Special Olympics.  This event is USAT certified and takes place at Celebration Park.  No race day sign-ups accepted.  Mail-in and online registration ends July 16 and walk-in registration ends July 22.  For more information including fees visit the Parks and Rec. website atwww.gardnerkansas.gov/

Distribution
First Monday of the month, 9:30 a.m.
People are invited to the Gardner Church of the Nazarene to pick up food provided by Harvesters. Anyone is eligible to receive goods.  For more information on the distribution, or to volunteer to help distribute items, please contact the church at (913) 856-8307
Edgerton Seniors Pot Luck Luncheon
Join the Edgerton Senior citizens pot luck luncheon, the third Wednesday of every month, 12 p.m., at Edgerton City Hall.  Bring a covered dish.  For more information call (913) 893-6231.

Leroy Hill Post No. 19 monthly meetings are held the first Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Legion Hall at 315 Meadwobrook Cir., Gardner.
Gardner Veterans of Foreign Wars
