As the season nears completion, Jeff Stewart’s young Blazer baseball team is making its mark in the Gardner competitive 10-under league.
Stewart and his assistants have guided a very talented group to a 5-6 record and look forward to the stretch drive of the season.
“For a young team we are progressing and competing very well,” Stewart said. “This is a team filled with a bunch of hard-working kids and very supportive parents. We look forward to seeing them progress and it’s been a pleasure to watch them play.”
Last season Stewart’s squad won the 8-under Gardner machine pitch competitive league. Although the roster has kids aged only 8 and 9 years, the Blazers made the jump to the 10-under division. The team has fared well with half of its losses just by one run.
The Blazers are a USSSA sanctioned team that plays outside tournaments and plans to compete in the Gardner Parks & Recreation fall competitive league.
Stewart has help in assistants James Cox, G.A. Buie, Ryan Gretencord, and Matt Russell. They are working with a roster that includes Skyler “Sky” Buie, Cooper “Coop” Cox, Noah “Tatter” Crowell, Kolby “Fudd” Gretencord, Tyler “Superstar” Goetzmann, Dayvin “DJ or Hollywood” Johnson, Garrett “G” Pendroy, Austin “Otis” Oldham, Brock “Nuke” Stewart, Bradyn Russell, Evan “Private” Wooten, and Tye “Petty” Wood.
