Delores June Kurtz, 76, of Pleasanton, KS, passed away June 19, 2011 at Olathe Medical Center.  A visitation will be held 7:00 – 9:00 pm Friday, June 24, 2011 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111. A Memorial Service will be held 2:30 pm Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Kindom Hall of Jehovah Witness, 1201 Paradise Lane, Butler, MO.  Private family inurnment at a later date.  Memorials may be made to Gardner-Edgerton Alumni Assoc. or the Lupus Foundation.
Delores was born November 4, 1934 in Kansas City, KS to Thomas W. and Lottie Sipes Emberton. She grew up in Gardner and graduated from Gardner High School in 1952.  She took nurses’ training at General Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Delores married Clifford “Bud” Kurtz on December 5, 1953 in Gardner, KS. She was a homemaker in her own home. Delores moved to Pleasanton in 2004.  She was a Jehovah Witness for 52 years. She loved planting flowers and watching them bloom.  She loved to cook and bake, especially wedding cakes, sew and quilt.  She enjoyed collecting dishes.  Her family will truly miss her steady strong countenance, her words of encouragement and her spunky spirit.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents and husband Clifford in 2001. She is survived by her children Bradley W. Kurtz, Pleasanton, KS, Debra D. Underwood, Redfield, KS, Lydia C. Haynes, St. Joseph, MO and Stephanie A. Murphy, Archie, MO; siblings Thomas Fredrick “Butch” Emberton and her twin Doris Blackwell both of Gardner, KS, and Mike Emberton of Baldwin City, KS; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
