the third Tuesday evening of every month for fellowship and sewing.
Chair, Solene Hollingshead said, “We started the group for people who wanted to learn quilting or improve their skills and we decided our creations should benefit the community.”
Nursing homes and other well being facilities always need lap blankets, also known as lap robes.
The First Baptist Church’s Craft Circle double-knits the fabric of the blankets by hand, which makes them very durable.
“No matter how many washings, they seem to last forever,” member, Connie Epp said.
On Thursday, May 19, 2011, Gardner First Baptist Church’s Craft Circle donated approximately 12  lap robes to Meadow Brook Rehabilitation Hospital during the Grand Opening of their new wing.
Hollingshead said, “The Craft Circle allows us to get out once a month and serve a purpose.”
Member, Marcia Gay said, “It’s not only our fellowship, but our ministry.”
