The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Tuesday afternoon. The advisory will be in effect from noon until 8 p.m.
The  National Weather Service issues heat advisories when temperatures are warm enough to cause heat-related illnesses. People are encouraged to stay indoors in air conditioning if possible and drink plenty of water.
Weather service officials also advise people to check on the elderly and pets.
Temperatures are expected to climb into the lower 90s in Gardner, Edgerton and Spring Hill, and even reach record highs in places like Wichita.
