The Gardner Parks and Recreation Department will celebrate both Earth Day and Arbor Day with community members at the Gardner Greenway on Saturday, April 30th.
Over 400 volunteers will spend time removing trash and debris from the creek bed that winds through the Greenway System.  Volunteers will later join at Winwood Park that connects the Greenway to enjoy a free picnic lunch while observing a tree planting demonstration.  Free giveaways and a prize drawing will also take place for all the volunteers.
The recently obtained “Tree City USA Award” will also be on display at the event. This is the eighth straight year in a row that the City of Gardner has received the award.
At the conclusion of the event the Parks and Recreation Department will raffle off several prizes including trees, bulbs, gifts certificates, and t-shirts.  Each participant will take home a free goodie bag.
