Sophomore Jon Hughes carded a 79 leading the ‘Blazer charge at the Gardner Invitational, April 7.
Hughes tied for third but slipped to fourth on a scorecard playoff. Seniors Cam Stranathan and Ryan Jones recorded respectable scores of 87. Stranathan was awarded 25th and Jones, 26th. Chris Grizzle shot 101 for 56th and Tyler Rayburn, 101 for 59th. Gunter Mauer shot 105 for 65th.
“Many of our golfers were competing for the first time and nerves were an issue in the early going,” said Coach Scott Schaefer. “I was proud of the effort.”
For the junior varsity, Max Moore shot a 91 for 43rd place.
Others competing were Spencer Gregory (92, 48th ), Alex Blum (104, 64th), Trevor Clarke (111, 75th), Logan Powell (112, 77th), and Brett Goetzmann (112, 78th).
GEHS got right back to action at the Paola Invite, April 11. The team competes in the EKL meet at Shadow Glen, April 18.
