Using timely hitting, the Spring Hill Bronco baseball team swept Perry-LeCompton in a home doubleheader, April 7.
With the wins, Spring Hill moved to 3-3 and gained momentum heading into this week’s doubleheaders with Baldwin and Osawatomie.
“We are starting to put things together,” said Coach David Londene. “We got some timely hits and played pretty good defense.”
In the opener versus Perry, Spring Hill rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to post a 6-5 win.
Nate Keegan produced the game-winning hit and was the winning pitcher. Collecting two hits were Derek Bybee, Dylan Shafer and Evan Smith.
Things were a bit easier in game two as Spring Hill blanked Perry 5-0. Spring Hill scored three in the third and added two more in the sixth.
Zach Pickett was the winning pitcher and got top offensive support from Brady Donahue, Shafer, Nate Keegan, and Bybee.
At home April 5 versus DeSoto, Spring Hill won the opener 14-13 before dropping game two, 11-3. Spring Hill took control with six runs in the sixth inning.
Spring Hill unloaded for 17 hits in the opener led by Shafer (3-for-4) and Smith (3-4).
In the nightcap, Spring Hill lost a hard-fought 11-3 decision. DeSoto jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and sealed the verdict with six in the third inning.
Zach Gierrens was the losing pitcher. Shafer led the hitting with a 2-for-3 performance.
