passed away March 8, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family.
Margaret was born Oct. 29, 1929 in Kansas City, KS to Edward and Ida (Schoenhofer) Madl. She was the eighth of 12 children. Margaret married Billy W Stephens June 30, 1948. The couple had four children. They lived in Kansas City, KS until 1958 when they moved to a farm north of Edgerton. Although raised a city girl, Margaret loved to garden and the quiet of the country. Margaret worked with and taught ceramics for almost 40 years. She expressed her artistic talents through ceramics and painting. She also loved to dance and was still jitterbugging until recently. Margaret loved people, especially small children. For several years she was a teacher’s aide at Edgerton Elementary. She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Edgerton. At one time she served on the church council as president and secretary. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her husband Billy of the home; children: Linda (Gregory) Endsley, Oregon, WI, Michael (Jeanne) Stephens, Edgerton, KS, John D (Lori) Stephens, Andover, KS and Patricia A (Wade) Leitner, Tucson, AZ; eight grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and brother J.D. Madl, Merriam, KS.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 am Sat., March 12, 2011 at Assumption Catholic Church, Edgerton, KS. Burial follows at St. Columbine Cemetery, Edgerton, KS. Rosary at 5:30 Fri., March 11, 2011 at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S Center, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111 followed by a visitation until 7:30 pm.
