The Allen Group of Kansas City may have secured a tenant for its under-development logistics park adjacent to BNSF’s Intermodal in Edgerton. According to a report in the Kansas City Business Journal, Patrick Robinson, director for the Allen Group-KC, told the Olathe Chamber of Commerce last week than an unnamed company was under contract.
Edgerton officials spent last fall hoping Demdaco, a Lenexa-based gift importer, would single the intermodal development out as a site for a new warehouse. In preparation for the proposed 312,000-square-foot warehouse, Edgerton’s council re-zoned 16 acres of land about 2,000 feet south of U.S. 56 Highway on Waverly Road from agricultural to business logistics zoning.
BNSF issued an order to proceed on the intermodal project last October. The notice secured the company $35 million in tax incentives from the state of Kansas. Officials estimate build out of the Allen Group’s 7 million-square-foot logistics park will be complete 10 to 15 years from now.
