William Robert “Bill” Wilson, 88, of Spring Hill, KS, passed away January 28, 2011, at Blackhawk Assisted Living in Spring Hill. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Thursday, February 3, 2011, at Bruce Funeral Home 712 S Webster, Spring Hill, KS, 913-592-2244. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Wednesday, February 2, 2011, also at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Spring Hill Cemetery Board or Blackhawk Assisted Living. Condolences may be sent to www.brucefuneralhome.com Bill was born October 12, 1922 in Vaughn, AR to William Riley and Hattie Alice (Page) Wilson. They moved to Spring Hill when he was seven. He graduated from Spring Hill High School in 1940 and attended Iola Jr. College. Bill married Merrial J. Brown on July 17, 1942 in Olathe, KS, and was a devoted husband to her until his death. He then served three years in the Army during WWII. He was a rural mail carrier for 33 years with the Spring Hill Post Office. He also worked at North American Airlines-Kansas City and for Farmland Industries Coop. Bill loved Spring Hill and was active in his community. He was a member of the Spring Hill United Methodist Church, a 55 year member of the Spring Hill Masonic Lodge, the Spring Hill American Legion, the American Rural Letter Carrier Assoc. and served on the Spring Hill Cemetery Board and was Sexton for 10 years. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brother Samuel Holland Wilson and sisters Willetta and Marrietta. He is survived by his wife Merrial, of Spring Hill; daughter Alice Kathleen and husband Raymond Eilenstine, Burlington, IA; two granddaughters; five great grandchildren a niece, and a great friend Mike Strausbaugh.
