Patricia Ann (Shay) Butell, 66 of Baldwin City, KS passed away in her home Tuesday, January 4th, 2011 at 9:05 PM.
Patti had courageously battled pancreatic cancer for the past two years.
Patti was born August 14, 1944 in Fairfield, CA to Retus Andrew and Francis Marie (Ferrell) Shay. She enjoyed Edgerton, KS schools in her early   years She attended and graduated from Ursuline Academy in Paola, KS. Patti furthered her education by graduating from the KC School of Cosmetology.
On October 16th, 1965, in Edgerton, KS she married the love of her life, Larry H. Butell. The two shared 45 years of marriage together. They raised three sons; and continually spoiled four grandchildren.  Bradley Michael Butell, wife Angela, children Isabella and Sophia, Baldwin City.  Brian Anthony Butell, wife Danell, children Bridan and Briley, Baldwin City. Brett Stephen Butell of Topeka, KS.
Patti was employed by Hallmark Cards after high school in the early 1960’s. Soon after, she started working as a beautician allowing more time with the boys. She later was employed by Delco in the early 1970’s and then transferred to the GMAD Leeds Plant.Later, she worked part- time at the home of the President of Baker University forming lasting relationships with the Baker family. Her most fulfilling career came after retirement; helping raise her four grandchildren. She also kept busy gardening, taking care of the family pets and visiting with many friends.
Family was the most important part of Patti’s life.Patti was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Mike and Gary Shay and most recently her sister Rita Moore. Patti is survived by her brother Dennis Shay, wife Nita of Donna, TX and sister Cindy Shay of Edgerton, KS.
Patti was a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Baldwin City. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the Annunciation Catholic Church with Fr. Brandon Farrar as celebrant. Inurnment will be at a later date at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Baldwin City, KS. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Friday, January 14, 2011 at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, 712 Nineth St., Baldwin City, KS, where a rosary will be recited at 6:00pm.
