Sue was born Jan. 29, 1932 in Snowmack, OK, the second of two children of Winnie A. (Quillin) Rhodes and Clell Rhodes. Her father was an Electrical Lineman and her mother was the Postmaster for Wynona, OK. She married Jimmie D. Oyler, Feb. 17, 1951 in Wynona, OK. Sue graduated from Wynona High School in 1950. She graduated from Bartlesville Business School, Bartlesville, OK and worked at many banks as she followed her husband’s service in the US military. Sue is to be thanked as a true military service wife for the devotion and the raising of her children while her husband was away on military duty. She loved to teach her grandchildren how to read and write and care for her little dog. Sue loved her flowers and would always tell about the time she was watering them and a little tree frog jumped out and landed on her forehead. Sue played basketball in high school and was a true basketball fan. Sue was a tribal member of the United Tribe of Shawnee Indians and served as the tribe’s Secretary and Treasurer.
The family wants to thank Sue’s granddaughter Jeniffer L. Simmons and the Ladies of Hospice for their devotion and care of Sue in her final days. Sue will be greatly missed and always remembered by her family and all who knew and loved her.
