Things have started on a successful note for the Gardner Edgerton High School freshmen boys ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams.
The freshmen A team is now 2-2 after a 36-30 win versus Blue Valley Southwest. Leading the way were Willis Cook (12 points), Jared Hobby (10 points) and Zach Scroggin (five points).
“Moving into the EKL has presented a great challenge for our freshmen boys,” Coach Ty Pfannenstiel said. “We see good teams every night and have to practice hard each day and need to be ready to compete. I’m excited and know the boys are excited for the new challenges ahead of us.”
The B team is 2-1 following a thrilling 41-40 win versus the Blue Valley Southwest Timberwolves.
Michael Corrales’ three-pointer at the buzzer proved to be the difference. Other scorers were Ryan Varney (eight), Damon DeVaney and Daniel Hughes (six), and Wally Nellor and Nicho Garcia (five).
First action after the holidays comes Jan. 3 at Blue Valley North.
