MILTON HOMER DOUGLAS “DOUG” WHALEY   Milton Homer Douglas “Doug” Whaley, 63, of Gardner, passed away Dec. 8, 2010 at Overland Park Regional Hospital. .  Doug was born June 7, 1947 in Kansas City, MO to Gussie Calmer and Fern Frances Coffey Whaley. He grew up in Olathe, graduated from Olathe High School in 1965 and later moved to Gardner. Doug served in the US Army during Vietnam. He was married to Debra Sue Hammar on March 15, 1976 in Olathe, KS. Doug was employed by Jayhawk Plastics for the past 13 years working in the Shipping and Receiving Dept.  He enjoyed kite flying, car racing—especially “Rat Rods”—and spending time with his children and grandchildren.   Doug was preceded in death by his mother, Fern. He is survived by his wife, Debra, of the home; children: Milton Harley Douglas Whaley and fiancée Amy Salinas and Martha Theresa Cummings, both of Gardner; sisters: Martha Jane Lauver and Amy Sue Pittman, both of Olathe; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be at 9:00 am Tues., Dec. 14, 2010 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS (913) 856-7111. Burial follows at 11:00 am at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS.
