Savannah Hallier scored 13 points, leading the Pioneer Ridge eighth-grade girls varsity basketball team to a 37-9 win at Lexington Trails, Nov. 16.
Hallier scored six points in the first quarter as Pioneer (6-2) took control with a 15-13 run. The Lady Jags blanked Trails 13-0 in the second quarter and went up 28-3 by halftime.
“I was proud of the way the girls played,” Coach Jeff Davidson said. “They moved the ball well on offense, took good shots, and then shut down Lexington on defense.”
Pioneer, which shot 40 percent from the field, also to six points each from Krista Long and Taylor Rayburn. Taylor Lakey and Sydney Clarke scored three points.
Versus Spring Hill Nov. 18, PRMS suffered its third loss of the season by a score of 38-30.
A late rally fell just short for the Jags and the team lost by eight points.
Despite the loss, Rayburn scored 10 points; Hallier added eight points; Lakey, five; and Long, three.
Marissa Gray grabbed six rebounds and Clarke, five. Hallier collected four steals and Rayburn, three.
PRMS traveled to Baldwin, Nov. 22. Results were not available at press time.
