Angeliece Tucker scored seven points and grabbed eight rebounds leading the seventh-grade Lady Mustang varsity basketball team to a 29-23 win at rival Paola, Nov. 4.
After a slow start, WMS got things together and held a 12-9 first-half lead. The team added 17 second-half points and handed Paola its first loss of the season.
Besides Tucker, Taylor Stewart and Madison Hicks added six points apiece. Ally Rodriguez and Emily Smith scored two and one point, respectively.
Defensively, Rodriguez led the team with five steals and three defensive rebounds.
It was a different story in eighth-grade varsity action as WMS dropped a hard-fought 37-9 decision versus Paola, Nov. 4.
Despite the loss, Allison Koelzer scored four points, collected three steals and grabbed five rebounds. Tiffani Richards added two points and had two rebounds. Taylor Johnston had one point.
Defensively, Mikala Morgan, Carly Graceffa and Kelsey Buller led the way.
