It was another successful season for Coach Darrell Wait and his Gardner Edgerton High School varsity volleyball team.
GEHS finished the season with a 32-7 overall record, including a 5-2 mark and second-place finish in the East Kansas League.
The Lady ‘Blazers were ranked in the top five of Class 5A most of the season but came up a little short in the sub-state tournament losing to Shawnee Heights in the final, 26-28, 20-25.
“We played a very competitive schedule throughout the season and had a lot of success versus some very good teams,” Coach Wait said.
Individually, sophomore setter Hannah Bettge established a new school record for assists in a season with 926. Sophomore outside hitter, Cassie Wait, also set a new school record for kills in a season with 463.
Post-season honors went to Wait (first team), Bettge (second team), Lacey Cole (honorable mention) and Phoebe Janssen (honorable mention).
