Question: Why are the new Moonlight Road lanes so much lower than the old or existing lanes?
Answer: In part, to remedy drainage issues, according to Project Engineer Dennis Weinrich. Weinrich said the old road was a little too high, which caused drainage issues. Storm water wasn’t reaching the storm water system. That’s why residents saw all those cat tails growing in the ditches around Moonlight Road, he said.
“They’ve lowered the road to get the water to drain away,” Weinrich said.
Weinrich said he hopes the pavement for the new lanes will be complete by the end of this fall.
“The sidewalks may not be complete, and some of the lighting may not be done,” he said. “But we hope to open it to traffic by the end of November.”
