The Gardner Edgerton High School fall sports season begins Aug. 26 when the ‘Blazer girls tennis squad travels to the Topeka Hayden quadrangular.
Leading the way will be sophomore Samantha Aleman. She took sixth place at 5A state singles a year ago and set a school record 32 wins.
Besides Aleman, junior Logan Meyer will represent GEHS at number two singles and juniors Calley Brey and Madison Edstrom at number one singles.
The number two doubles team has yet to be determined but junior Amanda Wilson, senior Stacy Kessler and junior Evy Sayavong have shown early season promise.
Eight freshmen are on this year’s squad to round out a roster of 18.
“Everyone is working hard and showing a lot of improvement,” said coach Wayne Long.
After the Hayden quad, GEHS returns home to host its annual Blazer quad, Aug. 30.
