It’s been a successful summer for Coach Ashley Stewart and her Gardner-Edgerton High School cheerleading squads.

Stewart said the ‘Blazers’ freshmen and varsity squads attended the NCA Camp at Emporia State and received several awards.
“Our freshmen squad received the Herkie Team award, Champion Chant award, and Spirit Stick,” she said. “Our varsity squad won the Safe Stunt award, the Spirit Stick, and an award for Superior Motion Technique, and won a bid to the National Cheer Competition.”
Eleven different school districts were represented at the Emporia camp.
Sixteen different squads competed.
In addition, the squad marched in the Johnson County Parade, Aug. 7, and will hold its annual Little ‘Blazer Clinic Sept. 4 for girls K-6. GEHS will also attend the Mill Valley Cheer Festival for all local squads.
