Charles William Owens, 72, of Linn Valley, Kan., passed away Aug. 11, 2010 at Olathe Medical Center.  Visitation was held Aug. 17, 2010 at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S Webster, Spring Hill, KS, (913) 592-2244.  A family gathering will be held at a later date.  Memorial Contributions may be made to Bikers for Babies.  Condolences may be sent to www.brucefuneralhome.com.

Charles was born April 5, 1938 in Springfield, Mo. to James Arley and Elizabeth Adelaide (Tanner) Owens.  He moved to Spring Hill 43 years ago then to Linn Valley in 2000.  Charles was a hard working man who dedicated his life to his children and grandchildren.  Charles served four years in the U. S. Navy.  During his lifetime, Charles owned and operated Waverly Locker Plant in Waverly, Kan. and Owens Roofing in Spring Hill.   He also worked for Phillips Family Farms, Inc. in Drexel, Mo., and worked 10 years for USD 230, retiring in 2009.  He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, riding his motorcycle, and playing golf.  He was a loving, caring, gentle, and supportive father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers.  Charles is survived by his children Tammy Warring and Bob of Olathe, Kan.; Kimberly Owens Assise and Mark of Sugar Land, Texas; Becky Owens of Little Rock, Ark.; Timothy Owens and Donna of Linn Valley, Kan.; Carrie Dale and Bobby of Hillsdale, Kan.; two sisters; three brothers; and three grandchildren, Zach, Kayleigh and Rileigh.
