We All Have Six Packs

Cory Adams, Gardner’s resident fitness guru. (Did you read last weeks Letter from Belly Fat?)
For a lot of people out there that are overweight or looking to just lose a couple pounds.  We all have one thing in common.  We want to lose it as fast as possible without changing our lifestyles.   One of the most common misunderstandings is that if you want to lose some belly fat for example, then you should do crunches.  That is not how it works.  Have you noticed that all of the newest and latest gimmicks out on late night infomercials all have to do with the newest ab exercise mumbo jumbo?  Why do you think that is?  Have you ever  seen a new triceps workout or back equipment?  That’s because these companies know our weakness and they know that we assume that if we want to lose fat off our belly’s that we will most likely be doing abs.  So stop thinking this because it will not work.
Now spot training does have its place.  If your wanting to build up your arms then of course you  need to focus on your arms.  It is very important to focus on all of your major muscle groups like your legs, arms chest, shoulders, back  and stomach  but you cannot  just focus on one spot and  expect to just work that area and expect it to go down.  In fact, in my opinion your actually going to build up the muscle in that area.  I will use the abs as an example.  You will build up your abs by doing lots of crunches but because of the fat on  top of them  your stomach may actually get bigger.  Don’t be mislead we all have 6 packs,  it’s true.  Abs are muscle that we all have its how we are created but the problem is that we need to get rid of the fat to show them off.
So if your reading this and you had no idea that spot training didn’t work and your now thinking what in the heck do I do now?   Although you might not like what I have to say but the key is, diet.  That’s right the d word.  I am not talking about going on a restrictive diet but talking more about healthy eating.   But that’s not all,  you have to combine this with daily exercise and cardio.  I have seen this method work for so many of my clients and also for myself.  I have some great tips on exercises to do and also some great tips on changing the way you think so  you can change the way you eat.  Just shoot me an email or leave me a comment for some extra help.
