Press release from the city of Edgerton
The Edgerton City Council approved the rezoning of sixteen acres from “A-G,” Agricultural Zoning District to “B-P,” Business Park Zoning District at their July 29th Special Council Meeting. All Councilmembers in attendance voted in favor of the rezoning.
The approval rezoned the northeastern-most portion of the BNSF Railway Company property, where BNSF plans to construct a 440-acre intermodal facility and The Allen Group of Kansas City, LLC plans to construct approximately 7.1 million square feet of warehousing and distribution centers. This is the first rezoning applicable to the overall Intermodal Project Area. The Allen Group of Kansas City, LLC is competing for a potential tenant requiring an initial 312,000 square foot distribution center. The BNSF Intermodal Facility and Logistics Park-KC development are located within the City of Edgerton, Kansas.
Also considered during the Special Meeting was the Site Plan for the sixteen acre site. The City Council approved the Site Plan with only one amendment to the stipulations recommended by the Planning Commission that addressed concerns related to landscaping and berming.
The City of Edgerton appreciates the assistance and review that was provided for this rezoning and site plan application by Johnson County Planning and Public Works and the City of Gardner.
