Virgil P. Gastinger, Jr. of Gardner took flight July 23, 2010.
Virgil was born Dec. 1, 1924 in Montgomery, Ala. and had lived in the
Kansas City area most of his life before moving to Gardner five years ago.
He served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII.
He worked for Hobart kitchen equipment before retiring.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gardner and was very
active at the Senior Center in Gardner.
He was honored to be chosen to take the WWII Veterans Honor Flight in 2009.
Virgil was preceded in death by his first wife Lona Lee Gastinger in 2004.
He is survived by his wife Clara; children, Kirk (Joan) Gastinger, Jeff Gastinger, Tracy Gastinger, Tim (Cindy) Gastinger; step children, Ellen Morgan, Chester (Julia) Smith, Karen (Jeff) Wade, and Curtis (Linda) Smith; five grandchildren and 13 step-grandchildren, three great grandchildren and 13 step-great grandchildren.
Please join us for a Celebration of his Life at the Gardner Community Center, 128 E. Park St. on July 30 from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Memorial Services were held July 26, 2010 at Park Lawn Chapel.
