The monthly meeting of the Prairie Star 4H club was held June 14, 2010 at the Jo. County Fairgrounds. The meeting was called to order by President, Dewey Molenda.  Pledges were led by Sean Singer and Anthony Deters.  Roll call was “What are your summer vacation plans?”  It was answered by 14 members.

We had one new guest, Kaden Nickelson.  The minutes from the last meeting were read by Macy Loring and stand approved as read.   Anthony Deters reported that he has turned in the minutes of the last meeting.   Haylee Burk gave the treasurer’s report and we have $339.08.

Kim Loring gave the community leaders report and wanted to remind everyone of the day camp June 28.  She also reminded members that if they are showing livestock at the fair a new shirt needs to be ordered since they have changed the color.  The order needs to be to Sue Pio by July 15.  The paper entries for the fair need to be mailed by July 15 and the online entries need to be done by July 28.  Gardner’s Farmer’s market has asked our club to be ambassadors.  Any member wanting to help needs to show up at 4 at the market and you will be assigned a vendor to help customers carry packages to their cars.  Members were reminded to wear their Prairie Star shirts.  The next foods meeting will be July 12 and parents help is needed.  This meeting will be on canning.

In new business it was addressed that no one has signed up for the float committee.  Sean Singer made a motion that our club not have a float this year.  It was seconded by Jesse Molenda.  It was approved by the club.

Presentations were then given by club members Dewey and Lauren Molenda and Haylee Burk.  Dewey gave tips on how to sell your project at the auction and Haylee have a demonstration on how to mount your photos for the fair.  Lauren then gave a demonstration on how to make a latch hook rug.

Tucker Davis made a motion to adjourn the meeting and it was seconded by Sean Singer.  The motion passed.  The next meeting will be held July 12, 2010 at the fairgrounds and will be a potluck.
