A candidate for U.S. Congress will host a town hall meeting in Gardner next week. John Rysavy, a Republican, faces more than a half dozen other candidates in a crowded primary bid for retiring U.S. Rep. Dennis Moore’s seat.
Rysavy’s townhall meeting will run from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on June 28 at the Senior Citizen Center at 128 E. Park in Gardner.
The primary election is Aug. 3. The winner of the Republican primary will face Stephene Moore, Rep. Moore’s wife, in the general election in November.
Rysavy, who has a professional background in the biotech industry, decided to run for Congress last summer.
“Increased regulation, increased spending, socialized medicine and broken borders are crippling our economy. I intend to fight for fairer and simpler taxes, and I will make limited and smaller government my top priority in Washington,” said Rysavy.
He resides in Overland Park with his wife and six children.
