The GFWC Athena Club of Gardner met for the regular monthly meeting on May 19th at the home of Ruth Hermon, and our Co-Hostess was Jerrie Reed.
They began the fabulous salad luncheon with two guests in attendance: second district new President, Delma Petty and Vice-President, Loretta Gallager. There were 17 club members in attendance.
After the luncheon, the club was called to order, flag salute and collect given.
Roll call was to answer: “A traveling tip for safety” with some very interesting and helpful tips. The program for the day was given by Mary Pritchard, club member of Edgerton from her travels abroad. She showed photos and answered many questions.
Reports were given by Minnie Ashmore on the scholarship winners, and Peg Deaton reported on attending the GEHS awards night and fine arts night. The two plaques were presented by Peggy and Mary Pritchard to the Gardner Edgerton High School at fine arts night.
Dues were collected from members for the next club year, as were items donated to Safe Home for battered women.
Juanita Rothaus turned the meeting over to Delma Petty for the installation of new officers. The “tools” were given to them to help them do their best as officers of the GFWC Athena Club.
The officers for the years 2010-2012 will be: Juanita Rothaus, President; Peggy Deaton, Vice-President; Norma Voigts, Secretary and Mary Pritchard, Treasurer.
Announcements were made and meeting adjourned.
