Frontier League coaches recently took notice of Spring Hill’s 4A State runner-up baseball team and named six of its players to the elite All-Conference squad.
Spring Hill closed the season at 19-7 after bowing to Bishop Ward 6-4 in the state championship game.
“I’m real proud of the kids’ effort,” said Coach Dave Londene, who collected his 300th win this season. “The kids are certainly deserving of the post-season honors.”
Leading the way was senior Jordan Miller, who was a first-team selection at outfield and a second-team selection at pitcher.
Dylan Shafer, second base, and Evan Smith, catcher, were also first-team selections.
Derek Bybee, designated hitter; Brady Donahue, shortstop; and Ryan Otto, pitcher; were honorable mention selections.
As a pitcher, Miller had an 8-4 record with two saves and a 3.21 ERA.
He helped his cause with a .494 batting average (38-77) and 20 RBI. He stroked nine doubles and three triples.
Smith had 34 hits in 74 at bats for a .459 batting average. He had 22 RBI and scored eight runs.
Shafer hit .414 with eight RBI, 20 runs scored and 24 hits.
Donahue hit .435 (30-69) with 30 runs scored and nine RBI.
Bybee hit .429 with 11 RBI and scored 13 runs. He had one triple, one home run and five doubles.
