With the regular season nearly complete, the ‘Blazers 10-under boys baseball team owns an impressive 6-4 record in the Gardner competitive league.
Coach Brian McDermott’s team has made steady improvement throughout the season and looks in good shape for post-season play.
‘It’s been a fun year,” McDermott said. “The kids worked hard in practice and have shown a lot of improvement. Hopefully we can make a run in the post-season tourney.”
The ‘Blazers’ play their games at Westside and Celebration parks. The 10-team league includes Wellsville, Baldwin, Olathe and other Gardner teams.
Assisting McDermott are Wally Borth and Jay Swartz.
Their roster includes Austin Bond (ss); Derek Bollinger (of, 2b); Garrett Borth (c); Gage Hunsperger (2b, of); Jacob Hunsperger (of); Luke Laskowski (p, 3b, 1b); Jensen McDermott (p, ss); Jayson Swartz (p, 3b, 1b); and Drake Taysom (2b, of).
