Modular buildings that will serve as fourth grade classrooms at Moonlight Elementary School next fall should be delivered to the district this week. The site where the buildings will sit is already under construction, according to Bill Miller, school district director of operations.
Staff should be able to access the temporary buildings as early as July 15 in order to prepare their classrooms.
Miller told school board members at a meeting last month that the temporary buildings are necessary at Moonlight due to overcrowding at the school. He anticipates the district will use the buildings for at least two years until a bond issue can be passed to build additional permanent space or the boundaries can be re-drawn to limit capacity issues at Moonlight.
